Station de Primatologie
Description
The Station de Primatologie (SdP) is a non-human primates husbandry and a platform of functional explorations including three technical facilities. Its main missions are the breeding of animals, several technical services and the implementation of research projects on the site.
On a sector of 18 ha, the site offers a husbandry for 700 monkeys of three species (Papio anubis, Papio papio and Saimiri sciureus sciureus). The SdP collaborates with other institutes as the Pasteur institute of Paris, Faculties of Medicine, and INSERM.
The SdP is also a centre of behavioral studies, cognitive and social ethology, biological anthropology, biomedical research.
Missions

- Sales, provision of primates (Baboons Papio anubis, Macaca mulatta, Saimiris sciureus)
- Production and sale of animals or biological associated material: cells, serum, plasma, tissues and organs, DNA
- Protocols and studies: clinical trials, experiments, surgery, studies in non infectious conditions
- Genetic characterization

- Active participation of the platform's members in Animal Experimentation courses, level I and II
- Annual Session of primatology
- In charge of veterinarian students, university students in eco-ethology and psychology, zootechnicians of the lycée Vendôme
